Hi folks, need some guru assistance:

So far, I would say my experience with AGP G4s is less than stellar - are
they always this finicky?

Twice now, I have successfully installed and updated a Panther OS on this machine (G4/600mhz), only to be met with a blue screen of death (the desktop
does not mount after the status-bar OS X pane is finished) with the
calibrated pinwheel going round and round.

Zapping PRAM proves ineffectual, as does re-setting the board, and following
the Kbase suggestions on such a situation.

Both situations occurred after a failed install off of an Apple retail DVD,
the first of iLife 05, the second of a Garage Jam-pack install.

Any wisdom, advice?

Try holding down the shift key, to bypass startup items.

If that works look in your user's pane in the Accounts pref for login items and delete them.

There are some prefs in the main Library folder (not the one in your user directory) (they may vary in 10.3, thisa is from a 10.4 system)

com.apple.SystemLoginItems.plist
com.apple.loginwindow.plist
