Seller is jneedee.
Now something that comes to mind almost inmediately.. the seller
says in the auction:
"I have run Ativec, PSbench, Cinebench, and Xbench on this chip at
500MHz and it is considerably faster overall (about 35-45%) than my
400MHz Motorola G3 chip"
Now, I can rest assured it might as well be faster, sure. But then..
I do assume the seller refers to ALTIVEC, on the small list he
provides here..
How come he claims to have run ALTIVEC on a G3, since ALTIVEC is a
hardware component found in a proprietary way on the newer G4 chip?
One can just assume he ran an Altivec-oriented app (Like for an
instance, Final Cut Pro, or Logic Pro, or Reason, or some of the
apps that got ahold of the Altivec portion of the G4. I run, for an
instance, GarageBand ยด05 on my G3/400, and several sounds and
effects are totally unable to be played because of the absence of
Altivec)
Sounds fishy to me...
Agreed.
I have received G4 zifs when expecting G3s (no complaints from me, as
I had already done the firmware thing and it ran (and continues to
run) fine.
A beige will run the G4 fine. At least, mine do.
