I can't thank all of you enough for you help. I took out all the RAM except for the card that looked like it belonged there the most, and it worked after that, dead to rights. Is it even remotely possible that the seller didn't know about this? One way or the other, what happened next was just hilarious. Once everything was installed, I went to About this Mac. Turns out it's the 466 mhz version of the digital audio, not the 533 as blatantly advertized. It was item #5854360746 if anyone's interested in checking it out. The seller is nxi3000, just in case your paths should ever cross. He's a teenager, and apparantly is not as bright as he thought, having invited me to his house to pick up a faulty computer. Buyer beware, I suppose. More aware than I was anyway. I guess some people think "As-is" means carte blanche to lie. I don't.
