My G4 QuickSilver 733 feeds a regular, not digital, external speaker
system.

I will try to get an adaptor and try again in the external speaker
hole at the back. I am sure I tried them in the headset hole (for
some reason it went into that one but the volume and timer was low
and hollow...)

My connection is to the headphone jack. That is using the standard
plug and cable that came with the speaker system. There was no other
plug or adaptor in the kit.

Yes, I see. OK, good to know they work for some speakers. I tried
this and not the best for the speakers I have (which worked really
well on the 7300).
