I have a G3/300 - ZIP - CD-RW - it has Ethernet, 2 USB ports and a

A Parallel port??? Unless this is an add-in card (rare as hens teeth)
you're looking at the SCSI port, not the parallel port.
We have a USB'/parallel HP LaserJet 1300 that came with some type
of parallel-port print server dongle thing, a USB Epson Stylus
Photo R320 and an HP 2410 Photosmart all-in-one USB printer
Our network is mixed, with -so far - a G4 Powerbook and B&W G3/350
- both running OS X 10.4.4 - and 4 PC's running XP Home and Pro
Where do I start with turning the Beige G3 into a print server -
should I install Linux on it?
Actually, OS X 10.2 or higher comes with CUPS, see: <http://
www.cups.org/> which should get you to setting up all the queues. You
can use the local admin pages via the web to set up and manage queues.
I don't know, however, how well this will work with the inkjets.
