I turn on a PC (when I really have to...) only when my Mac is turned off, as it connects to the same screen via the VGA port (the Mac goes to it via the DVI - I have sometimes wondered what would happen if I had both PC and Mac on and switched the monitor between DVI and VGA, yes, my Dell LCD has this switch on the front panel and goes also to S-Video... But have not been game to try it. Should I? In fact, now I think of it, is this a built in KVM type switch?

I have a professor who does that on a daily basis, on his Dell LCD. (Actually, he's spoiled, he uses that tactic to switch his *dual* displays between two systems :-)

This is the sig who says 'Ni!'

That's a good idea considering how much DVI KVM switches cost. Only one of my main computers would have to suffer VGA ghosting then :)

Why didn't I think of it before! My Belinea 20.1" TFT has DVI & VGA inputs.
