Some stuff.
• What is the "console" for and where can I figure out what it means?
Right now "Looking for devices matching vendor ID=1192 and product
ID=8717" is not very helpful
A google search implies that it means it is looking for a Canon
printer. see:
http://lists.apple.com/archives/Usb/2003/Dec/msg00013.html
Do you have a canon printer? Is there a document waiting to print in
the Printcenter? open up printcenter and purge any documents that are
in the cue.
• Pop Char - the typing gizmo - is so far the only OSOld-device I miss
badly. Is there any good replacent for it?
don't know about that one
• What software does "software restore" restore?
The original software that shipped with your Mac. The iApps and others
that are not part of the main install.
• Can I allocate more memory to some programs like I did in the old
days?
Nope, OS X does it on the fly by itself. Some apps like photoshop can
have the cache size set manually, but the actual app's memory
allocation is automatically handled
And this new quicsilver of mine is quite noisy. Any standard tips
about this?
One of the fans may getting ready to die. But check for a lot of dust
on the fans and clean them off.
