Sorry about that, wrote it in a rush as i had my hands in and out of
the machine.
The 60Gb drive is the only IDE drive on the cable and is set to master.
This drive does not appear to have a master ONLY setting. Which i think
is something you only find in older drives not in the newer models. So
aside from setting it to master, i have also tried it without the
jumper on as this sometimes defaults as a master only setting on some
drives.
Anyhow back to what is happening, the drive is working and is being
detected by OSX setup however once the installation process has been
completed the machine reboots but does not successfully boot from the
hard drive.
At first i attributed this to memory but i since dismissed this after
testing it with another hard drive.
Could it be the revision 1 mobo that i have in the machine?

Your first step to debugging this problem is to re-read what you wrote.
Add some punctuation and perhaps a few more words.
A few possibilities:
Make sure you have one and only one IDE drive on that bus.
Make sure that drive is set to be Master Alone, not just Master.
