I'm actually considering downgrading our service.

Maybe I should too and start a reverse comp with him! He's a kid, he will see it as a game. I will go dialup 28 from my 56, he will go 14, I will go to 2 tin cans and a string and he will be done like a dinner.

My q: can I download to his XP machine things like the Apple Tiger
updates, usb them to my stick and put them on my X Quicksilver and
it all work?

Certainly! But you need to be careful: Flat files, like .dmg, .sit,
.zip, .bin, .hqx, .uu, .uue, .tar, .jpg, .gif,... will be fine.
Files with resource forks, such as .sea or uncompressed installers,
will be broken. The .sea files are recoverable tho - all you loose
is the embedded expander app. So you can just drop them onto
Expander and they'll work.

Thanks Dan, just what I needed to know and/or be reminded of... I will go do it at his place before I start the downgrade comp :)
