While disposing of dead monitors, I discovered a place that has a few
Macs for sale. I had thought they only had G4's (Sawtooth to dual
1.25 FW800's). I have already recommended them to 2 people who
happily picked up two DA 533's.

When I was there last week, the guy mentioned G5's. Said he loads
them up with Tiger with a monitor and sells them for about $1000. I
asked for a price on a non-loaded machine, no monitor and he said
probably $500-$600.

All I could get from him on specs was 2.0ghz (it was closing time
<sigh>). Of course just about every G5 model seems to have a dual 2.0
in the lineup.

Hopefully I can get model numbers Tuesday, but are there any I should
stay away from? Is that too much for an early 2.0?

This would be replacing/enhancing my FW800 1.42DP, which I am
completely happy with except for running out of hard drive space. I
have had a couple of jobs this year that taxed it but it worked, even
with Illustrator CS3. I normally find it quite zippy (as long as I
haven't been playing with the Mac Pros at the Apple Store!)

I also have a G4 1.2 iBook that I was planning on upgrading this
fall. I hadn't been planning on replacing the tower this year BUT I
may be tempted......

Thanks,

Diane
