I have the PCI-e version and it runs hot, +55 Celcius. The outer
plastics on the fans (not the blades themselves) have warped and/or
broken the snaps holding them in place.

I have just (less than a month) acquired an early 2005 2.0GHz dual. Its CPUs
are generally around 51 or 52 C., and the disks are around 40 to 42 C. Despite
this, the fans are not noticeable.
At work I'm still using a Dual 2.5, and right now, its CPUs are 64 & 55 C. Its
disk is 40 C., The fans on the dual 2.5 kick in every so often, - maybe once
every hour or two - and reach quite a noise, but never (so far) for more than a
few seconds The extreme values over the last seven days for the dual 2.5 are:-
CPU A 65.8C
CPU B 59.5C
HDD 41.0C
Apparently the CPU Intake & Exhaust fans have never reached 1800RPM, and their
specified upper limit is 3200.
I check with Hardware Monitor,
(http://www.bresink.com/osx/HardwareMonitor.html) and have found it's well
worth the modest fee.
