Yeah problems such as these can be mystifying to be sure.  I think I  
may have tracked mine down to the boot HD.  With it connected I cannot  
get the Tiger CD to boot, just get the spinning gear.  But when I  
remove the boot HD from the ATA bus I can get the Tiger CD to boot to  
the installer.  Looks like it's time to find another HD to use to boot  
the system.  Thanks for the thought Mel.
