Native LBA48 capability, or, more correctly, the defaulting to
include the LBA48 property, is part of the QS 2002 ROM, only. Also
later G4s and all G5s.

It is NOT a function of the processor card as the EEPROM is on the
motherboard, not on the processor card.

If you run the script to add the LBA48 property, or, more correctly,
the LBA48 properties (there is one for the HD bus, and another one
for the optical bus) to your G4, then any G4 can have large drive
support until the reset-nvram O.F. command is issued.

Whenever the reset-nvram O.F. command is issued on a QS 2002, the
LBA48 property is automatically included.

(The QS 2001, like prior G4s, does not default to including the LBA48
properties)

Whenever the reset-nvram O.F. command is issued on a pre-QS 2002 G4,
the LBA48 property is automatically excluded (but it is still there,
and it may be enabled by your actions).

Again, the LBA48 properties are associated with the motherboard, or,
more correctly, the motherboard's EEPROM, not the processor.

It is possible, on some MacOS versions, to include the LBA48 property
by the installation of a kext.

This method works on G3s, too.
