Greetings all, This post is sort of like the one Doug posted, but different enough to start a new thread - I expect Len to chime in :-)
I would like to install Leopard onto a G4 DA, upgraded with an OWC 1.5GHz single CPU, w/ 1.5 Gig RAM, currently running 10.4.11. OWC recommends the following: (quote) When installing 10.5 Leopard on a G4 or G3 PowerMac with a NewerTech MaxPower , PowerLogix , OWC Mercury Extreme G4 or Sonnet Processor upgrade it is best you preform a fresh full install of 10.5. Preforming* a Archive and install or Upgrade in many cases will fail. Using a new hard drive to install 10.5 to will allow you to then migrate your data upon start up from your old hard drive. *(sic) (end quote) While I am not opposed to a clean install, which I usually do (and having cloned my present boot drive twice for safe keeping), I am just curious to know if anyone has done a simple upgrade path successfully in like machines, and if you'd let me know how you fared. On a slightly separate note, I am guessing that it's a good idea to unplug/disable any drive attached to a PCI controller card, yes?
