It looked like Leopard was keeping the end of the backup disk free by its nature? (no need to defragment nature). There was only one partition being used for Time Machine backups. From what Disk Utility showed me, all data appeared contiguous. Of course, it was a simplified window ... as compared to, dare I mention, Symantec's Norton's thing from the past ... > >> Then all 4 other partitions are copied back to the PCI Graphics hard >> drive, creating fresh copies on the new, resized partitions. > > Just out of curiousity - why are you partitioning the internal > drive(s)? What OS's are involved? OS X 10.4.11, Classic 9.1, Applications, Documents. I like keeping things separated on partitions ... perhaps from early my computer training, back in the 1900s ... bookkeeping clarity ... individual backups ... > >> At present, I'm using Disk Utility on the PCI Graphics machine to >> Verify the backup drive, to include the first partition containing my >> Time Machine backup. Since it came back with an error, and even though it seemed to correct it, after I slept on it, and decided not to trust my repartitioning scheme I did under Leopard. Will go back and refresh my 750GB backup disk with new partitions for my Quicksilver's Time Machine and the partitioning scheme from my PCI Graphics, and begin my backups / resizing partitions anew. Thanks for listening ... maybe Apple will come out with more trustworthy dynamic Disk Utility? That's what it looks like is happening in Leopard ...
