CCC use to just copy partition to partition, if I'm not mistaken. I see the 3.1.2 version allows copying to a folder. AFIK, I thought, for OSs, you needed to be careful that CCC copied all partitioning info as well as the OS, so you had to stick to partition to partition copying. My OSs are Tiger 10.4.11 and 9.1 for CCC, and Leopard 10.5.5 for Time Machine. I have gone back and wiped my 750GB backup clean and started anew. I use Tiger on my PCI Graphics and Leopard on my Quicksilver, so I'll use CCC under Tiger, and Time Machine under Leopard, sharing the 750GB between computers (eventually over my home network, after the mass of work is done). Will stick to 5 partitions: Time Machine, Tiger 10.4.11, Classic 9.1, Apps, and Docs.
