Then STOP. Please DO NOT hijack threads. Ok. IF I were a Mozilla developer, after viewing that report, I would simply shake my head, and if I had time, mark it as closed - worksforme. You say: "Visiting any website that uses Java will result in everything but the Java applet properly rendering. In fact, the Java applet does not even initialize " First, it does not pass the "does that make sense" test. Firefox 3 has gone through *three* releases and umpteen alphas and betas, not to mention the nightly builds etc. Surely, if there were a TOTAL java failure such as you describe, someone would have noticed! Between my Smurf (OS X 10.4.11) and an x86 iMac (OS X 10.5.5), I've just hit half a dozen pages with Java applets. They all work just fine in Safari 3, WebKit, Firefox 3.0.3, and Firefox 3.1b2. In Firefox, the applets don't display the cheezy gray coffee "logo" while they're loading. Instead there is a text thing on the window's bottom bar that tracks the load by percentage. Once it hits 100%, the browser sits there while the applet itself starts up, then it runs normally. IF you're not seeing that, then I would suggest you dig deeper in your own Mac. Do you have an overzealous (ad) blocker running? A corrupted cache? Try a different/new user account. Try the beta. etc....
