Last weekend I got a nice iMac 600 MHz G3 slot loader with what
appears to be a bad CD drive. It won't grab the CD and pull it in and
if pushed in won't work (probably not getting it in all the way).

And it is running a password protected OS X, not sure what version.
The owner is gone, it was an estate sale.

My question is how to bypass the password. I tried my OS X 3.5 disk
and had to dismantle the Imac to get the disk back out. Did not boot
from C.

Not sure how to boot in target mode. Is this what I would do to hook
it up to a machine.with a firewire cable (which I don't have). Can I
do it over Ethernet through my hub?

Any other way of deleting the password? Removing the battery? Jumper
inside the computer.

Can I use an external USB CD drive. USB thumb drive?
