If I understand Sawtooth right, it was both the AGP Video model of the
G4, and the Gigabyte Ethernet model when it had the single processor.

The Sawtooth has a 100 MHz bus, so PC100 memory is standard. A lot of
PC133 memory will also work, but I've heard that some newer ones are
different and can cause trouble. I don't know how to tell the
difference, but I'm sure the info can be Googled. If the PC133 memory
is the newer non-compatible-with-PC100 type, I think you're supposed
to avoid installing it at all.

You can run the free utility DIMMFirstAid to check out your memory.
After the 4.8.2 firmware update, some memory (even PC100) won't work,
but DIMM First Aid is supposed to whip the non-working ones back into
shape. A lot of memory salvaged from old PC's (and Macs) will work
fine. And OWC's new memory prices are quite low.

If your power supply has a 20-pin main plug, some (maybe all) G3 and
G4 power supplies with 20 pins will also work. The 22-pin PS (used in
Gigabit and Digital Audio models) has extra power output for the ADC
video card. That video card can still be used in the 20-pin G4, but
only the VGA port will work.

Also see if there's a local Apple user group in town. They often have
classified ads, swaps, and people glad to help get your Sawtooth in
shape.
