Yes, it was a thought that struck me (I tried ice around it to see if this settled it... as an experiment... but no difference). Since I factory reset the control on it, it has been rock solid for nearly two days now... This may have solved it but I know not to jump to conclusions in these matters. If it has solved the problem I am sort of wondering what could have happened in general terms? I fire up a PC now and then and switch it to VGA. The Mac runs on the DVI input. I also experimented with a set top box for TV on yet another input, composite I think. Perhaps all these inputs confused the power saving software inside the monitor? The only control on this aspect is do I want video on, "yes" or "no" during power save. I am not completely sure what this means, If it is in power save mode, how can the video be on... but never mind, it is doing what I want! My Mac has a screensaver that comes on after 4 minutes and 14 mins on my Mac Energy control (Computer never to sleep). I will be well pleased if this has solved problem. I calculate that this monitor has been on running for up to 3,500 hours - but this is not lit up with stuff time; goes into power save for various chunks of the day. It looks to me like still new in appearance (when not flickering!) About the brick, it is not totally straightforward for me to test, it has a funny 4 or 5 pin plug that takes the 12V into the monitor. It is not easily replaceable by a standard brick because of this plug end - I thought to chance a new brick at a desperate moment... A punt, it would probably cost a lot from Dell. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
