It sounds like the computer is going to sleep and not recognizing the 
card and or devices after waking.  This is a common problem with USB PCI 
cards.

To verify it, start up the computer from off, check each USB device for 
connectivity, use the Sleep command in the Apple Menu to put the 
computer to sleep, wake it up then check for connectivity.

I have been looking for a solution myself.  I have heard of some cards 
that don't have the problem but in several cases it turns out the 
individual making the claim didn't have sleep on or something else.  And 
the two I've tried still didn't work properly with sleep.

AFAIK the only real work around is to disable computer sleep which I 
would rather not do.
