So today I tried to install a G4 ZIF that I have never been able to use with L2 enabled. I had used this processor on a carrie ZIF into PowerMac 7600 and into a beige G3. No way to enable L2 cache (I have used all the known software). So I prepared the Yosemite, G4 firmware update, jumper setting etc... No luck the G4 does not work at all in the Yosemite. Before I conclude the L2 is bad is thee any other test to perform?
