Something to report: While the large 377 MB update worked fine on my PPC G5 PowerMac, the two Intel MacBook Pros I updated with the 190 MB version faired worse. One failed to reboot, stuck on the spinning thing, and required a little maintenance before successfully rebooting to seeming improvement on the Airport connection, which was sorely needed and expected.
The 2nd MacBook Pro took the update normally, but when it rebooted I saw an icon at reboot I've never seen before. It faded away after several seconds and the Desktop presented itself normally then. Since this isn't my computer, I'm uncertain if this icon was part of the System software or some 3rd-party application? I rebooted several more times, and the icon presented itself each time. I looked in the startup items and Activity monitor and saw nothing "extra" running. The unknown icon was a little larger than one inch in the center of the LCD near the end of the boot just after the grey screen ends at the earliest beginning of the almost instant blue screen to Desktop transition. It was a icon of a "rope" in the shape of the Apple Command 4-way cloverleaf symbol. The rope formed the command cloverleaf, but where it came back to itself in the upper right quadrant instead of connecting seamlessly to itself, it was tied in a square knot with loose ends showing on the exterior of the cloverleaf icon, seeming to indicated "something twisted and tied up"? Anyone seen this icon at startup before or know what it is? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
