Folks get passionate about Epson, but if your priority is for the best photo quality at home user prices, get an Epson which features their Claria Hi-Definition ink. We have a Stylus Photo RX595, a 2007 all-in- one model, which works great with no clogging problems. For years we used the Epson 740 with great photo quality. For best text quality, avoid Epson. We have a Canon Pixma iP4500 which does very nicely, also a 2007 model. Some HPs also get very good ratings for text. I've never seen any reports praising Brother ink jets for quality of output.
