This may be totally unrelated, but my old 12in G4 Powerbook came with a 45w power adapter, and my new 15in came with a 65w power adapter. None of those sites with the melted powerbooks say which tibooks those are. One of the known problems with these machines is the screen hinges, as you know. Another problem is the trackpad cable. It is pinched in the frame and sometimes short out. There are sites that show how to fix this problem though. The tibook that I had would get so hot that it would burn any bare skin.
