The new iLife '09 is due out this month according to the Apple website. I did the iPhoto tour and it 'seems' to have some new features that may win you over. I'm not a big digital photo collector so it may be all hype. Regardless, I'm thinking you might want to wait a few more weeks before you do anything with your collection in another application.
