Hi all,
Thanks to everyone, especially Stephen and Peter, for the rich lesson in PS
printing. In actuality, the discussion has proven what I needed to know:
that the Brother HL-2140 does indeed support PS, even in emulation (and
apparently, that badly). This appears to be a requirement of the print
server (the D-Link DP 311U) in order for the printing task, as assigned by a
Mac, to be successfully accomplished. I do not actually own an HL-2140, but
the LEM Swap list colleague who sold me the print server does, and having
the good fortune to have a PS-enabled printer made the server work, and
hence gave me a thumbs-up on the sale. I'm not so fortunate - my home
printers are not PS capable, and hence can't communicate properly via the
server, but now I know why, so I can stop beating my head about this :-)
Thanks again.
Best regards,
Dana
