Called Platypus, it's a program that will let you make an instant OS X
application out of any interpreted script: shell scripts, perl
programs, etc

YES! PLATYPUS ROCKS!

My boyfriend showed me this when he decided we had to write a couple of
"Sims download processing" applications about a year ago (oh yeah,
Valentine's weekend last year). He said we were just going to sit down
and do this (quite probably because he was tired of hearing me complain
about how tedious this could get). He said he needed me, since I'm the
actual Sims player (he doesn't play himself), to tell him what they had
to be able to do/how the game sees particular kinds of files, and he, the
Unix man, would write the bash scripts -- so that's what we did. After we
got it working and repeatedly tested, he took us to the Platypus website,
where we made really nice packages for them: MacSimSorter and
MacSkinSorter (and I bookmarked the site!). Then he said, "Release them
into the wild," which I did at one of my Sims forums and recently I got
an owner of a Sims downloads site to host them also. Those two little
applications (in my Dock at all times!) have since spared me and quite a
number of Mac Sims 1 players a LOT of time consuming tedium!

I don't know why it didn't occur to me to mention Platypus back then, but
seeing you mention it now, I had to agree it was wonderful.
