I wouldn't try to save a few bucks buy buying a refurbed drive.
Drives have a finite lifetime, particularly if burned at the highest
rated speed.

Samsung SATA drives, which may be identical in appearance to the
above-cited drive, have been very good in my applications, where I
may burn several (say, up to six) DVDs at a sitting.

The amount of cleaning steps necessary to maintain good performance
is remarkably low on Samsungs and Lite-Ons. It is much higher on
Pioneers.

I would buy a brand-new drive, not a refurbed drive, and expect to
pay somewhat under $30 (not including tax and shipping).
