Don't forget you can stick documents in your dock and on the left 
sidebar of Finder windows.  Makes 'em easy to hit.

Some apps will let you automatically re-open a set of docs (restore 
windows, etc) too.  That can be helpful.  eg:  AlphaX automatically 
re-opens all my notes files when I launch it.
