The G4 is basically used for sound-related tasks and state-of-the-art
speed and OS version is not a requirement. I'm happy to hang around
with 10.3.x or 10.4 (For those like me who still have some OS 9
machines hanging around, there's an issue with AFP after 10.3.8, I
believe it is, which kills dead large file xfers between later OS X
machines and OS 9 machines).

For various reasons, I'm quite content with OS 9 for Photoshop and a
few other uses, as well as having some quasi-legacy audio software
that won't run on anything later than 9.

Not as much fun as having a 1954 Stratocaster. All you need for that
is new strings and it still works.
