First thing disable dashboard app, using TinkerTool (google it up)
Take it out of the dock !

At least 512MB RAM.

if "slow" means a 233-333 mhz then a faster cpu would help (a lot !)
imho it maxes out around a 550. in my experience, going from 233 to
466 helped a bunch.
I also did some overclocking which is ez with these zif cpus.

Nevertheless mine is still running Jaguar. SeaMonkey browser is still
supported, and
I installed some nice basic versions of ported linux apps (Gimp,
Scribus), and I only have 192MB RAM.

Works good though, with a 16MB Rage128 Video card.

Although this is an unsupported machine much of these things apply to
g3 and g4 from the next few years that followed it
(especially the dashboard/ RAM parts ...)
