How about a bath in Methanol ?
[Meth, an alcohol  ----   find a propane gas supplier, they have the  
Methanol, in large quantities for drying propane tanks during use.]  
get a couple of gallons, use a 'wash tub' OUTSIDE with paint brush  
for 'scrubbing' 'Rubber Gloves would not be a bad idea.]
