When something like that happens, it might be the drive trying to re- 
read things, indicating failure. SMART Status might still say its OK.

I've had a couple of Seagate ATAs do that after 3-5 years ... one  
from Tiger Direct, sooner.

Backup and see where things go ... maybe replace the drive depending  
on age.
