Quicktime Pro does not allow WMV use, QT Pro has all of the same codec
issues that regular QT does, the differene is QT Pro lets you create,
save and transcode media files.

You still need Flip4Mac (in fact you need one of the pay versions of
F4M to save WMV files)and Perian, but QTPro/Perian/Flip4Mac is a
pretty potent AV tool.

(and note in 10.6, Apple's going back to the original QT idea, QT
player will, out of the box, allow you to save and transcode files
without paying the $30.)
