I've had some trouble with my 22" Apple display that's hooked up to  
two KVM's on an ADC port and a DVI port. Generally, it works well. One  
thing I do have to watch out for is to be sure that at least one  
display is on and connected at boot. Depending on your KVM this may or  
may not be a problem for you. If you do boot the G4 with the VGA  
display connected to the Linux PC, when you switch back to the G4 you  
may get no video. The simple fix for this is to go to System  
Preferences>Display and click on "Detect Displays", which should bring  
your VGA desktop extension back.
