Which ICY DOCK enclosure? Just curious ... I occasionally look at the ICY DOCK MB881US-1S-1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817198029 and go "Hmmmmmmmmmm" but (1) it costs more than I'd want to pay and (2) the *last* thing I need is yet another enclosure. You say it has given you grief when used via USB. Does it have another mode (eSATA perhaps?) where it works reliably? If that's the case then I'd suspect the SATA->USB logic board rather than the power supply. (I expect there's not much if any "logic" required to convert SATA ->eSATA.)
