That's incorrect.  While the USB functionality is there, some devices 
DO require specialized drivers.  In fact, I have several devices, 
like Zio USB SmartMedia card readers that have custom drivers.

As for the OP's devices...  The card reader should just work.  Bu 
tthe MP4 Player will either need specialized software, or it will 
have to set to emulate a HD.
