It's probably a bad idea to go digging into the guts of a TM volume
like that, rather than using the  TM interface. The volume on your
desktop is just another mounted volume to the finder, and will be
treated as such. If you delete files that way, you'll probably screw
up Time Machine's indexing. It would have been smart for Apple to not
make a TM volume even visible on the desktop.

Yes, just that one.

Yeah I archived about 50-60 users over the time frame using that
folder, so the folder contents were changing all the time. This is our
'spring cleaning on the servers' time, just before the new class
arrives and we add a slew of new accounts.
