I have been looking for a less expensive alternative to Quark xPress. My wife used to work at a print shop and is used to working with it, however we don't have an OSX version and can't really afford to upgrade. She uses it for her work with a local charity and they can't help out, either. I downloaded Scribus from Sourceforge and it looks like it may be what I'm looking for. Does anybody have any experience with Scribus and could give me an evaluation on it with respect to Quark? Or, maybe suggest some other apps, preferably inexpensive or free. Appleworks won't work for what she does. I would like to surprise her with it, so I'm not asking her about it just yet. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
