Use Carbon Copy Cloner to do the copying - either the whole drive or 
just your /Users tree - up to you - whatever the flash drive will 
hold.

CCC is much more reliable than drag'n'drop copying, and it will copy 
everything - even the invisible files - which can be quite important 
when it comes ot your preferences and such.
