There is no show of a folder on my HD (Tiger latest). But search finds it and reports it as being where it should be. Its contents can be seen and work fine to deliver files to the server.
I have: Sites/x/y/z where x, y and z are folders and z is simply not showing up in the file system in the normal way. That is, you look into y and z does not appear. I use x, y, z for the real names for this post only. I have deleted Application, Font, System and Kernal caches. Disk utility reports no trouble, all permissions and verifications applied. I ran DW and rebuilt the directory (it always finds plenty of things to do especially after years of work). If I go to Sites/x/y and search for folder z, it finds it in x! Double clicking on z opens up a directory window that appears correct to me with z's contents showing and, moving left in *column* view, the containing path back to Sites. But the folder, z, itself is feint (the small icon is there to the left of the name but is paler in colour). Anyone happen to have some clues about this? I seem to have made a folder invisible by accident! I don't want to dig a deeper hole before asking you lot what you think I should do first. I have the thought of simply copying the contents of z to a new untitled folder on the desktop and renaming it z and seeing if I can then stick it in y and say yes if it asks do I want to replace. It is difficult to say when it happened because I have been working on z for two months but via the alias in the sidebar (that worked fine!). I removed the alias earlier in my fiddling. (But I have a SuperDuper backed up HD with it on - it has exactly similar problems re visibility though, not surprisingly) A curious thing is that if I grab this pale z and stick it in the sidebar, it gets me access to the files in z but when I press the path button, z in the path is fainted out. -- dorayme --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
