Yes, that was a strategy I was about to implement (I have many folders with the exact content of the invisible one) but one worry was my being able to delete the invisible one later. I was thinking maybe I will run into trouble there. > Perhaps z is set to be invisible? > Perhaps z is set to not be viewable by you? > > The easy fix is to just create a new folder in y/, move z's stuff > into it, then remove z. > >> I have deleted Application, Font, System and Kernal caches. > > What would they have to do with this problem? Nothing! I panicked in ignorance about the cause of the problem! I also boiled 4 frogs and a snake head and made soup and ate. I still have no idea how it happened. In fact, I solved the problem using terminal. Here is a snip from a post of mine elsewhere: I found SetFile in an old update package I had in Library. I also dug up an article I had on this matter by Ted Landau: <http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10344207-263.html?tag=mncol> I notice, in case this helps anyone, it is not quite true that "Since you can't drag an invisible file's icon to the Terminal window, you'll need to know the file's path." I had noticed in my previous research on this pesky problem that I could actually drag the icon by locating under Command-F or the search box I keep on top of all my directory windows. -- dorayme --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are a member of G-Group, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
