Apple seems a bit confused on the issue. The website says that a G4
or better is required and points G3 users to 8.2.1. The release notes
don't specifically preclude a G3, just say that at least a G4 is
needed for video.

That said, I installed it on my Pismo (G3/500, 1GB, 10.4.11). It runs
and seems to play MP3s just fine. I haven't tried video as I already
assumed the previous version was too slow.

This is clearly a YMMV situation.

As an aside, I noticed that 10.4.11 is the minimum OS version
required and that most of the new stuff (iTunes LP, etc.) requires
10.5, so I wonder how long Apple will continue to support Tiger with
new iTunes and Quicktime versions (even on a G4).
