Actually USB 1.1 are quite usable.  My B&W was fine with it's USB 1.1 ports
connecting to various printers, external Superdisk drives or Zip drives,
importing photos from my digital camera into iPhoto, even using a card
reader.  If you're talking about external hard drives then yeah these ports
won't cut it, but they still are quite useful.
