A USB 2.0 card for sure. Like you I also have a DA but using Jaguar instead of Tiger. I bought a USB2.0 PCI card first and then a 7 port powered hub. Having a powered USB2 hub makes a lot of difference too not just for your problem but other mounting/connection issues as well. For my Kodak camera that also takes SD cards I bought one of these USB SD card readers... http://cgi.ebay.com/SD-SDHC-MMC-USB-Card-Reader-for-2GB-4GB-8GB-16GB-32G_W0QQitemZ270465081719QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCC_Drives_Storage_Internal?hash=item3ef8f9a177&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 >From memory $2 plus $3 shipping to here in Australia. Very quick and easy to use and the reder icon just appears as an icon on your desktop. Make sure you get a reader that can recognize 2-4-8Gb cards at least as some of the older ones only go up to 1Gb ( I'm unsure the size of your card ).
