FWIW, I've had CCC crash twice on me - both were caused by rsync.  It 
was complaining about a file it couldn't read (but Finder had no 
problem with it).  It didn't panic tho - just took down itself.

To have rsync involved in a panic...  That would point to a disk or 
file system issue.  There should be error messages in the system log.
