I've used the SYBA card with the SIL3124 chipset in an early 2005 dual 2.3 PowerMac G5, but it was slightly before 10.5.8, probably 10.5.6 or so. It works fine with the Silicon Image kernel extensions installed, but since it needs the extensions it is not useable for booting, it only works as storage.
