Front Panel? Our Xerox 7760 has one, but the printer in question here
is an Apple Laserwriter 8500.
There is no front control panel.
As I relayed just a few minutes ago, the solution was to disconnect
the printer from the wall socket.
We've had this printer since 1998 and it has been great. I've had to
replace the fuser numerous times and toner carts are getting hard to
find, but Tabloid, duplex, multi tray printing is a joy.
Not sure if we'll replace it with another B+W tabloid when the time
comes. Consumables on the 7760 are steep.

Thanks all,
Dale
