What I believe he was trying to say is that there is no possible way that the firmware on any computer could identify a particular type of fan. Possibly it could differentiate between generic types of fans i.e. those with a speed sensor versus those without. But even if it could, why would anyone bother? It's not a difference that's worth the cost of the code to detect it IMO. Even if you outsource them, programmer's ain't THAT cheap. (I hope ...) -irrational john
